Economic Development

We have many opportunities to attract a wide variety of businesses to our district. We must seize these opportunities so that the people in our district reap the benefits of those new jobs. For that to happen, we must provide training and education so they are workforce ready.

What we can do:

We need quality high paying jobs, incentives for businesses, and the ability to attract companies from a wide range of industries including STEM, robotics, and automatic fields.
As leaders of our communities, we should work together to address issues of rural economic development. We need to examine each county, identify their strengths and resources, and pursue opportunities that cater to these strengths and provide competitive advantages.

In order to enrich the economic development of all of our counties. I am building relationships with local citizens, businesses, and community leaders to listen to the needs and understand the assets of each county.

The economy will rise and fall on the decisions of the government, but it also depends on the support and innovation of the people. We can take District 4 to new levels of innovation by recruiting new businesses, supporting the needs of entrepreneurs, and challenging ourselves to consider alternative opportunities.

Making Northern Alabama its central location for Hypersonic Strike Work, Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) will establish a new facility for the assembly, integration and testing of hypersonics programs and locate the management and engineering workforce for many of these programs in Huntsville. The Courtland expansion will bring two new buildings in support of Lockheed Martin's portfolio of hypersonics programs. This decision brings 72 new jobs to Courtland and 200 new jobs to Huntsville over the next three years with additional job growth expected.

Appointment to the Alabama Small Business Commission (9/26/2019)

Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh (R-Anniston) has appointed State Senator Garlan Gudger (R-Cullman) to serve on the Alabama Small Business Commission. Appointed on Thursday, September 26, 2019.
